One of our favorites while Mom & Dad lived in Utah was to play card games together. We always played two games. First Hearts and then Spades. Two rounds each and then the night was over. Playing Hearts with Mom was very different than playing with Dad. Dad was always trying to win (as expected), but Mom was always more concerned with the rest of us playing well. Mom would pass you "good" cards so you could "shoot the moon" in hearts. "I want you to have a chance to do well," she would say. Classic.

What happened to dog-eat-dog Dorothy? That's how Mom was known in Tucson, anyway. I guess it depended on who Mom was playing with!
ReplyDeleteThose days playing Hearts with Nikky and Joel. And I did ever-so-often pass good cards . Now we play with Steve and Jamie with the same procedure. But I think I will do differently to shake up everyone.
