DONUTS!

Here's a photo to match Cheryl's post. Evelyn and I made doughnuts last summer when she was here for Jennilee's reception. They are a ton of work! Much more fun to eat them. This picture is from 1970 so it must have been to help Randy . Mom wrote on the back of my picture 1 AM! Cheryl Fortie is with me Joel and Andy.

EASTERS

(I'm a day early, yes) My memories today are of Easter. I remember we always got a new dress for easter, sometimes white gloves and purse and sometimes something pretty to put in our hair. One time in Roosevelt, Long Island a day before Easter mom came in the house and told us that she had just seen the Easter Bunny run across our lawn! Well we went running outside to see and were amazed to find jelly beans scattered across the front lawn. We just missed him!! But at least he was running so fast that he dropped some of his candy. When asked, mom told us that he must have just come by to check out things for the big day tomorrow! (the order of the pictures top to bottom, '68, '69, '64, '62, I don't know where Steve and Andy are for this picture!)

DONUTS!

I wish I could remember exactly how many times we made donuts....but I just remember it was alot... making and then selling them to the neighbors (mostly whom we didn't know). The donuts were HUGE and we walked up and down the streets with them on paper plates...not even decorated plates! Didn't we sell them for only $1.00 a plate? The money from the sales went to help Randy on his mission....we had fun making donuts and EATING alot of them ourselves. I am proud to remember that my job was the GLAZER....dipping the burning hot donuts in the saucy powdered sugar and water mixture then sliding them onto the wooden dowels. Great memories!
