Canoe Trip 1971

I have a picture as well, of that same canoe trip that Ruth posted a picture for. There's mom and I navigating the tight turn with Ruth along for the ride! I bet Steven is in the canoe with Leslie Blades.

Family Trips

Joel and Andy won these darringers at the boardwalk in May 1981. We rented a cottage down in Cape May for July 4th. I remember that was one of my favorite vacations. Mom looks very concerned here!! In the second picture you can see the whole crew for this trip. I remember talking to Dad when I was a teenager suggesting we go camping. He was convinced that with only 4 kids left at home we wouldn't be able to have fun camping. We couldn't even have enough kids to field a volleyball team!! I told him that for many people 4 kids was a big family!

Family Trips

May 1971 Wharton State Forest. I was quite thrilled to start the canoe trip. I believe Andy was not excited to have to wear a life jacket!! The canoe trips were so much fun. Is this the one with Godfrey's bridge? I always thought that name was cool.

Jeff is in the background and Leslie Blades is somewhere in the picture, too.

camping mom

This picture is from 1967, so predates the househunting. I loved this tent. It seemed so huge to me and I loved laying out all the sleeping bags and making room for 9 people in one tent. It's hard to imagine everyone fitting in there. It brings back great memories of playing games, eating birdseed on the dreaded hike on Sunday and playing flashlight tag at night. I used to hide with Evelyn so I wouldn't be scared in the dark. That was a great game until someone ran smack dab into Dad and ended all our fun!!
